Chandan and kesar in the bath: what Ghar Soaps' bar can and cannot do

A pleasant, traditional-smelling bath bar. Enjoy the chandan. Ignore the glow promise.
There is something comforting about a bathroom that smells of chandan. It reminds a lot of people of their grandmother's house. Ghar Soaps leans into that with a handmade bar that pairs sandalwood with saffron, sold as a pack of three, for men and women.
The listing also makes some bigger promises. So we have split this review in two: what the listing says, and what we think.
"Handmade"
What we think: handmade soaps are often a bit gentler than harsh, heavily processed bulk bars, and they tend to feel more personal. It is a nice reason to choose a soap.
"Paraben free"
What we think: fair enough. Many people prefer to avoid parabens, and it is clearly stated.
"For glowing" and "skin brightening"
What we think: this is where we would be careful. A soap is on your skin for a few seconds before you rinse it off. It is not going to noticeably lighten or brighten your skin, whatever any soap label says. If an even skin tone matters to you, sunscreen every day will do far more than any bath bar.
"300 gms pack of 3"
What we think: read this line carefully. It is not clear whether that means 300 g in total or 300 g per bar. Check the product images for the weight of each bar before comparing prices.
A few practical notes
- Sensitive skin? Natural fragrances can still irritate. Try a small piece first.
- Make it last. Handmade bars soften quickly in water. A draining soap dish helps a lot.
- Read the ingredients in the listing images if you have allergies.
Buy it because you love the smell of chandan and enjoy a little ritual at bath time. That is a perfectly good reason. Just leave the glow to your sunscreen.
